Hi Guys, over the winter months the weekly structured training can be challenging, with daylight fading, sea temperatures falling, and sometimes adverse weather making training sessions interesting. With this in mind, I’m structuring a relatively fixed weekly timetable, which tries to encompass as much as possible over the 7 day training period. There will be extra sessions involving stretch and core, as well as pool swim sessions, but these will be on an adhoc basis, when pool access is confirmed.
So, the weekly training will look as follows:-
Sunday – Trail Run Series (24 Runs in the Series)
Monday – 5:30pm Sea swim meet at rear of King Alfred
Tuesday – 10k Timed flat run, meet 06:05am David Lloyds doors, Brighton Marina, for a 10k timed flat loop.
Wednesday – Turbo Session, 6:30pm for 90 minutes.
Thursday – 6:00pm Cycling For Softies, a cycling session along Hove Seafront to Brighton Marina, and turning at Carats Cafe, back to Hove Lawns. Any bike, any standard, this is designed to encourage cyclists back to their bikes, to improve confidence, and to keep the wheels turning throughout the winter months. This is a social ride, please bring good lights, reflective clothing, and a crash helmet 🙂
Friday – 6:30pm Yoga Group. Meet Brighton Beach Bikes for Emer Barry Yoga Group, aimed at strength, stretch, and conditioning.
Friday – 06:30am Run Intervals meet Peace Statue, 06:30am for 1 hour of platform intervals
Saturday Alternate weeks Off Road Duathlon Series (08:15am Start) and Road Bikes to Sea Lane and back to Hove Park Run (cycling starts 07:15am) straight into Park Run 5k off the bikes.
Throughout the winter training months, it’s essential to keep the legs and wheels turning, we should try encourage each other with motivation through the cold and dark months 🙂 To help with this, we have 12 Off Road Duathlons in the Winter Series, every 2nd Saturday, and 24 Off Road Trail Runs in the Winter series, to keep us moving forwards ready to pick up the triathlon season next April 🙂
I truly hope to see you for some, or all of it 🙂
Remember, with the Off-Road Duathlon and Winter Trail Running Series, points mean prizes ! And for the April Awards Afternoon, there are plenty of awards up for grabs throughout the winter training/racing months 🙂
Best, as always
